Marengo was the meeting point of 56 French citizens and the Quargnento twinning committee coordinated by President Luisella Rossi to confirm the twenty-year alliance of Coubon and Quargnento. The French delegation accompanied by President Blandine Plasse, Mayor Christelle Valantin and the priest Don Maurice Poyet arrived yesterday at the Delavo villa to visit the Desaix park and the Napoleonic museum.
The welcome greeting was delivered to the auditorium by Councillor Maurizio Sciaudone (delegate to the Polo di Marengo – Province of Alexandria), by the Honourable Enzo Amich, by the civil and religious authorities of Quargnento (the Mayor Paola Porzio, the Councillor Luigi Benzi, the parish priest Don Mario Bianchi), the curator Efrem Bovo (Marengo complex).
”It is beautiful – Sciaudone intervened – to host here in Marengo the French group and, so, spread our Napoleonic museum”.
”Twinning – as Mr Amich has said – honours Italy and sets an example to the Europe that has been through a period of convulsion”.
”The visit to the museum created to commemorate the French triumph at the Battle of Marengo – was added by Mayor Paola Porzio – is perfect to consolidate the twinning promoted since 2004”.
The event strengthens the Italian-French synergy promoted by the Treaty of Strengthened Bilateral Cooperation ratified in Rome (26 November 2021).
